Litigation Secretary
La Jolla (UTC Area) | Hybrid Schedule
Salary: $85,000 - $114,321

A prestigious labor and employment law firm in the La Jolla/UTC area is seeking a Litigation Secretary to join its growing team. This position will support busy attorneys handling state and federal civil litigation matters and requires a highly organized professional who can manage deadlines, court filings, and litigation support responsibilities throughout the entire lifecycle of a case.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, format, proofread, and finalize pleadings, motions, briefs, correspondence, and other legal documents.
  • File documents in California state and federal courts using e-filing systems.
  • Maintain litigation calendars, monitor deadlines, and assist with docketing.
  • Coordinate depositions, hearings, mediations, and court appearances.
  • Schedule court reporters, videographers, and other litigation vendors.
  • Manage attorney calendars and meeting schedules.
  • Organize and maintain electronic and physical client files.
  • Assist attorneys throughout all phases of litigation, including discovery support.
  • Prepare expense reimbursements, review invoices, and submit billing-related documentation.
  • Handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of legal secretary or litigation secretary experience.
  • Strong state and federal civil litigation experience.
  • Knowledge of California court rules, filing procedures, and litigation deadlines.
  • Experience preparing shell documents, finalizing filings, and navigating court requirements.
  • Familiarity with docketing and calendaring litigation deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and legal software programs.
  • Experience with iManage, NetDocs, Milana/CompuLaw, Best Authority, PACER, ECF, or similar platforms is highly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent proofreading skills.
  • Flexible, teachable, and able to adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation & Benefits

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Hybrid schedule: 3 remote days and 2 in-office days per week
  • First month onsite for training and onboarding
  • Consistent remote work schedule after training
